Utah National Parks
With five national parks, Utah is America's national parks capital. Our parks include: Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park, and Capitol Reef National Park.
Zion National Park
is often said to be one of the most beautiful places in America. The scenery is breathtaking with towering cliffs, deep red canyons, mesas and massive monoliths.
Canyonlands National Park
was created by the Colorado and Green rivers. These two powerful rivers have carved deep canyons in the heart of this remote area. Canyonlands includes some of the most remote, yet scenic areas in the United States. Mountain bikers love this classic terrain. The park includes wonderful trails like the 100-mile-long White Rim in Island in the Sky, or the many roads/trails in the Needles. As you look out over
Bryce Canyon National Park,
you will see thousands of delicately carved spires rising from the amphitheaters. Millions of years of wind, water and geologic confusion have shaped and etched and left us with the spectacular pink cliffs at Bryce, which isn't actually a canyon but the eastern slope of the Paunsaguant Plateau. The scenery is breathtaking!
Arches National Park
is of course famous for the red arches of Entrada sandstone that occur there.
Capitol Reef National Park
has long been called one of Utah's best-kept secrets. It is equally as scenic as our more famous parks but is pleasantly less developed with fewer visitors each year.
Utah also claims the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park, since it is best accessed through southern Utah. In addition, Mesa Verde National Park is just across the border in Colorado, Great Basin National Park hugs Utah's Nevada border and Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park straddles the Utah/Arizona border. These national parks are located close together, allowing visitors to experience them all in one trip. Whether you choose to visit just one or two, or to take a Grand Circle swing through them all, your trip is certain to be breathtaking!
